One of my favorite things about being a future educator is choosing books for my future classes. This resource is where I will list some of my favorite books for my elementary classroom.

Amazing Grace, Amazing Book!
Amazing Grace - Mary Hoffman, Caroline Binch

Amazing Grace is a beautiful story written on a DRA reading level of 20. Teachers of all elementary levels could use this book in their classroom though. This story is so sweet. Through the main character, students can learn that they are capable of doing anything that they set their minds to. This book is an encouragement to its audience, and it is very inspirational. This could be used in a classroom by reading the book and then giving students a writing activity to write about their dreams and what they want to be in the world. Everyone needs to read this story!

Letters and a Coconut Tree make a great story!
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - Bill Martin Jr., John Archambault, Lois Ehlert

This book is by far one of my favorites! It is a DRA level 20 book. This book is targeted for children in kindergarten and below. This book can be used in the classroom as a resource when teaching students about the alphabet. I highly recommend this book for a  younger classroom.

Pete the Cat Rocks!
Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes - Eric Litwin, James Dean

Pete the Cat is such a good book to start the school year with. It comes with a c.d. for you and your students to jam to while reading the book. The illustrations are adorable! It is a wonderful book for your students to interact with. This would be a good book to use on the first day of school to get students ready for the year. This book is for students on a DRA Level of 16. If you read it to the class as a whole, it is great for students from kindergarten to second grade.
